July 25 Program

  • 07/25/2023
  • 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Jefferson Middle School

The July 25 program will focus on sharpening techniques and tools.    Presenters will be members John Chernoff and Jerry Kehoe who will demonstrate in person both stone-based and sandpaper-based methods for sharpening chisels and plane blades.   In addition to these demonstrations, they will lead a discussion about the use of various sharpening jigs as well as any problems, issues, questions members might have about sharpening.  Members are encouraged to bring with them the sharpening jigs they use in their own shops.

This program is the second in a series of at least 4 programs presented by Guild members in 2023-2024 focusing on the basic elements of woodworking.   The May program addressed sourcing logs and milling and flattening boards/slabs from those logs.    The early December program will focus on the variety of methods and products used in finishing.   Early 2024 programs will focus on joinery.
